With the rapid development of the mobile market, the communications capacity has been imminent. The circumstances of the GSM900 spectrum resources are in a serious shortage, as a result, the dual-band network technology has been identified as a practical program to stream the recent traffic and increase the system capacityThis paper, starting with a brief introduction of the mobile communication system, mainly talks about its history of development, structure and function of channel classification and interface standards, and then the key parameters of wireless to do that, through which the general outline of mobile communications are explained. Next, DCS 1800 system is introduced, and to better compare it with the GSM900 system, the author illustrates the two from the aspects of wireless communication features, working band and so on. After that, the concept of dual-band network as well as the dual-band network features, its advantages and composition is introducedThis paper begins to put emphasis on the optimization of dual-band network on the basis of the understanding of it in both the free and exclusive mode in the previous chapters. This feature is pre-conditions of whether dual-band network can run smoothly. How to design the dual-band wireless network and traffic control is clarified via the analysis of purpose of the set of wireless parameters, strategies of the dual-band network parameters set on the free and busy condition, as well as community re-election algorithm.At the end, this paper discusses the set of parameters and methods to achieve dual-band network traffic balance combined with the practical network situation in Xi’an and then comes to the conclusion that the application of dual-band network technology in high-traffic areas plays a share of the traffic load, eases the pressure of GSM900M band, decreases the signal load and switch drop-call caused by frequent switching, and as a consequence, improves the overall function of the network.
