Research On The Historical Development Of Hunan Museums(1951-2007)

Abstract:Since the initiation of past over100years, Hunan museums has play more and more social function as an important part of Cultural undertaking of Hunan Province. Today, leaded by Hunan Provincial Museum, the position of the whole Hunan museums in Chinese museums is also increasing. Meanwhile, through researching on the historical development of career of Hunan Museums, clearing up the system of historical development, summarizing the characters and experience in the development process, further analyzing the trend of future development, we prospect to use for reference to the career development of Hunan museums.Hunan museums have originated from the late Qing Dynasty, but it really developed after the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Take Hunan Provincial Museum as a core, the career of Hunan museums can be divided as three periods. The first period is from the preparatory office of Hunan Provincial Museum in1955to the beginning of the Cultural Revolution in1966, which is the start-up stage of the career of Hunan museums; the second period is from The second period is from the Cultural Revolution to the first building renovation at the end of20th century, which is the growing-up and development stage of Hunan museums; the third period is from the opening of new exhibition hall of Hunan Provincial Museum to2007, which is the blossoming and flourishing stage of Hunan museums.Generally, Hunan museums have made remarkable achievement since the founding of PRC, enlarged the scale and scope and improved the system, but it also reflected some problems and deficiencies, which need to carry out further reform and renovation according to the situation and keep development forward.
