As the emergence of the "Smart Earth","Sensing China"and other concepts, the internet of things has been got more and more attention by many governments and has been become the scientists’ research focus. As the tip of the internet of things, Wireless sensor network may has been worked in almost every indoor environment which could be imagined. It will be provided important theoretical basis for wireless network planning and optimization by the knowledge of the radio wave propagation characteristics in complex indoor environment of wireless sensor network. Therefor, in this paper the radio wave propagation characteristics of wireless sensor network operating band in the complex indoor environments has been studied, including received power, power delay distribution and RMS delay spread. The method of SBR/Image has been used to research specific frequency propagation characteristics in indoor complex environments.The content and contribution of the paper are as follows:(1) The research status of radio wave propagation characteristics of wireless sensor networks operating frequency and the basic theory of the ray tracing method have been introduced, and the various advantages and disadvantages of the ray tracing method has been discussed.(2) The computer implemented process of study complex indoor environment of radio wave propagation characteristics based on the method of SBR/Image and radio wave propagation simulation software Wireless Insite have been introduced.(3) The2.44GHz radio wave propagation characteristics of the typical floors environment has been studied,and the distribution of the received power and RMS delay spread distribution have been obtaind, and the affect of diffraction by simulation and comparison has been studied.(4) The3.5GHz radio wave propagation characteristics of the typical office environment has been studied, and the power delay distribution and multiple path have been gotted.(5) The5.8GHz radio wave propagation characteristics of the room which have barrier wall has been studied, and the receivied power distribution, power delay distribution and the distribution of RMS delay spread of Line-of-sight environment and non-line-of-sight environment have been obtained, and the affect of barrier wall to parameter distribution of radio wave propagation characteristics has been discussed.
