With the characteristics of short range and high speed the Ultra Wideband (UWB) technologyhas been caused widespread concern and become the research focus of wireless communications.Study on the propagation characteristics of the UWB signal in the complex indoor environments hasimportant value in theory and practice.In this thesis,the propagation characteristics of the UWBsignal in the complex indoor environments has been researched based the time-domain formulationof the uniform geometrical theory of diffraction(TD-UTD).The software of Wireless InSite hasbeen used to model and simulate the complex indoor environments.Then got the propagationcharacteristics of the UWB singal,such as the multipath propagation and power delay distribution.The theoretical support can be provided by these works for the system design of UWB wirelesscommunication.This thesis is organized as follows.The contributions of thesis include:(1) The method of TD-UTD has been introduced on the basis of the traditional, method oftime-domain ray tracing.Then the feasibility and advantages of TD-UTD has been analyzedtheoretically in the research of the complex indoor enviroments.(2) The software of Wireless InSite has been modeled based on the method of TD-UTD.So thepropagation characteristics of UWB signal hae been simulated,and the measured results of twoknown literature has been veriflied in this thesis.(3) The propagation characteristics of UWB signal in a typical office environment have beensimulated and analyzed.At the same time,the multipath propagation and the power delaydistribution of the UWB signal have been obtained.(4) The relationship between the room structure and the propagation characteristics of theUWB signal has been researched by changing the complexity of the classic office.(5) The propagation characteristics of UWB signal in a typical home environment have beensimulated and analyzed, and the relationship between the location of the transmitter and the signalquality of the common receiver havs been researched.
