Many countries pay widely attention to the passive radar system based on externalilluminators, as it has the property of anti hedgehop-assault, anti anti-radiation missile,anti-stealthy targets and anti-jamming. The location system using moving communication, television station, broadcast station and so on to detect target, instead of radiatingelectromagnetic wave itself. In this dissertation, the location algorithm and tracking algorithm based on externalilluminators are studied, include TDOA location principle, location precision, multi-stationdata fusion, optimal distribution and target tracking. The idiographic work is as follows:1. The problems of location algorithm, location precision and multi-station data fusionbased on external illuminators are studied in this part. Firstly, TDOA location algorithm isdiscussed respectively in the condition that the station can receive the signals from theexternal illuminators and the station can not receive the signals from the external illuminators, the relevant precision equation based on differential is gived for the two case, as the power ofthe equation is much higher after differential, it is hard to find the solution to the precision equation, therefore the eqution of differential approximation is acquired in this part, the two methodsare contrast by computer simulation. Then, for multi-station location system, a new data fusionalgorithm based on midperpendicular plane segmentation is proposed, the influencing factors of the newmethod are discussed, and its validity is proved by computer simulation.2. The problem of optimal distribution of TDOA location system based on externalilluminators is discussed in this part. Firstly, the effect of the geometrical distribution isanalysed. Secondly, the influencing factors of optimal distribution is dicussed, include the heightof the external illuminators, the height of the sations, the length of the baseline, the anglebetween stations, the amount of the stations and the height of the target. Lastly, the optimaldistribution method aiming at the direction of target is proposed respectively in the conditionthat the station can receive the signals from the external illuminators and the station can notreceive the signals from the external illuminators.3. The problem of target tracking based on UKF is studied in this part. Firstly, the systemmodeling is founded in the condition that the station can receive the signals from the externalilluminators and the station can not receive the signals from the external illuminators. Then, for TDOA location system based on multi-stations, a new target tracking algorithm based on optimal UKFis proposed. Lastly, the new method is validated by computer simulation, and the influencing factors arediscussed.
