Smart Home or called Smart House, generally refers to a residential platform, which uses computer technology, network technology, automatic control technology tocombine the various residential subsystems organically and make the daily life morecomfortable, safe and effective.Due to the limitations of indoor space, generally speaking, wireless networktechnology is better for Smart Home. However, several existing Near FieldCommunication technology is built on standard wireless network protocol. Such asZigbee which is built on IEEE802.15.4, has complex protocol stack, leading to difficultdevelopment for Embedded Engineers. At the same time, due to the relevant provisionsof the Zigbee Alliance, the Zigbee-about product development’s cost are relatively high. Therefore, how to design a kind of wireless network protocol that is low-cost, easy todevelop for the Smart Home has become an important problem.According to the study on this problem, we find that with the rapid development ofmicroelectronics technology, there has been a lot of communications chips, in whichembedded non-standard radio frequency (RF) protocol. These chips with low price, simple structure, excellent reliability and significant low power consumption, couldachieve some basic communication functions.By demand analysis of the wireless network protocol for Smart Home and someresearch on the design strategies, meanwhile, accordding to the specific applications, wedesign one kind of wireless network protocol-BNSR (Based on None-Standard RadioFrequency) protocol, on the basis of NORDIC’s wireless chip nRF24L01P. It is able tocomplete the Carrier Detect, Link Relay and Frequency Hopping Communicationfunctions well.Subsequently, based on NI’s(National Instruments) LabVIEW software platformand FLUKE’s FLUKE123ScopeMeter, we design a set of real-time powermeasurement system for wirelee sensor nodes in order to test the low powerconsumption characteristics of the wireless protocol using the virtual instrumenttechnology. Finally, we build a demonstration system called SoS(Sleep-WokenUp-Sleep)network, which is based on the BNSR, NI’s LabVIEW and Microsoft’s ACCESS, so asto verify the functions of this wireless protocol. Validation results show that thedesigned features of the protocol are reasonable and could be realized. After that, usingthe real-time power measurement system, we test the low-power characteristics of theprotocol, validation data indicates that it meets the requirements of Smart Home in theaspect of low-power well.
