With the growth of the national economy,the Iron and Steel Industry has been thelifeline of it. And it has been more and more significant to mark the product informationon iron and steel products, such as manufacturer information, serial numbers andmanufacture date. At present, most of the marking devices for iron and steel products arebought abroad and most have disadvantage on modification of marking data, productionline management and so on.In this case, we put forward the design scheme of a new marking system which isintegrated with several common marking methods, aiming to fulfill the current marketdemand and increase efficiency of production and management. The new systempresented by this article, consists of two parts. The upper computer, as the central pivot ofthe overall system, also provides a friendly user interface, through which users can finishjobs like system configuration, monitoring, marking data management and preview. Theslave control board handles the outside signals, receives commands from the uppercomputer and accomplishes the actual marking.This article first introduces the basic structure of a marking system and its relativetechnologies, and makes brief introductions for three kinds of common marking methods,such as multi-pin marking, surface painting and side painting. After that, it presents awhole set of the architecture design scheme, which is proved to be effective, so that threekinds of marking methods can work together in the same production line and can bemanaged and disposed by a PC software on the upper computer. And then, this article alsopresents the division of software parts and introduces the design and implementation ofsome important modules, such as the mark-encoding module, the mark-control moduleand the mark-state module.Finally, our system has achieved the anticipative targets and requirements throughtesting and debugging. And it is proved to be capable of running in a long time safely andreliably.
