With the rapid development of information technology, information has become a crucialpart of a company’s success in today’s very competitive marketplace. In order to quickly reactto ever changing market demands, companies need the ability to accurately and timely capturecustomers’ needs in order to ensure product quality and timely delivery. Efficient data analysisand timely use of this data can improve the competitive edge of price, product development,and the level of customer service for a company. Furthermore, economical globalization,technical and economic inequality and other factors make intensive competition inevitable.Analyzing the enormous amount of ever growing business data is an enormous challenge forcorporation executives and vital to a company’s longevity. However, data warehousing of thevast amounts of this data is a very complicated science for corporations everywhere.Data warehouse technology has been developed rapidly in recent years. It is a technologythat transforms collected data into meaningful information available for a variety usesincluding business trending, analysis, and reporting. The information processing and analysisis a multi-step process consisting of data collection, data cleansing, and data storage, etc. Thistechnology takes full advantage of information stored in the data warehouse and providespowerful data assurance for corporate policy makers to make more informed decisions.SuNing Appliance is a leader in the domestic appliance retail business. Along with itsmore than20years of rapid business growth and expansion, information technology inSuNing Appliance has also evolved several generations. Service system information was itsfirst generation. Sales and financial information was the second one. Its’ third generation wasthe ERP information system. The latest and current generation is SAP/ERP enterprise information system. After the successful implementation of SAP/ERP enterprise informationsystem, SuNing Applicance has standardized its management integration and business processcontrol. As a result, its management performances have been improved dramatically. However,there are two problems that require immediately attention.The company has accumulated a huge amount of business related data; how to make useof this data, to group these seemingly uncoordinated data together in order to enhance thecompany’s business decision is the first problem that needs to be addressed.Secondly, slow system performance must be addressed. Even with business decisionsupport functions implemented, the continuously changing sales and inventory data andmassive data exchange in the appliance retail business significantly degrades the systemperformance resulting in hour-long decision report runs. Therefore, how to guarantee thesystem performance and provide an exceptional user experience is another problem/challengefacing SuNing Appliance IT staff.Therefore, it has great practical significance to study and implement an businessintelligent system with an optimized framework and strong improved system performance.Such a system could not only be used by SuNing Appliance but for other appliance retailbusinesses as well.This thesis first describes the business intelligent status in China’s retail industry and thenintroduces how business intelligence has been applied in the retail business abroad. This paperstudies and illustrates key technologies used in SAP Business Intelligent system which hasbeen implemented by SuNing Appliance. By studying how SAP Business Intelligent system isused in SuNing Appliance as well as SuNing Appliance’s business needs, this paper proposesa new business intelligent system solution for SuNing Appliance and discusses in detail thesystem design and implementation. By using model reconstruction, changes in thinking anddata sources analyzing, combined with aggregation, partition, APD and other key systemperformance optimization techniques, this paper conducted in-depth study of systemperformance issue which is common in SuNing Appliance and other appliance retailcompanies. By giving its optimization test results this paper demonstrates its optimizationeffect.Finally, this paper makes a brief summary about its business intelligent system and givessome of author’s opinions about the future development and outlook of SAP BW BusinessIntelligence.
