Surface sheet metal parts make up an important part of the aircraft, the reasonable structuraldesign of which is the foundation to obtain better structure and performance of aircrafts. Thetraditional design of surface sheet metal parts took general-purpose CAD softwares as operationplatforms, making the design process heavily relied on the designers’ experiential knowledge and agreat quantity of repetitive work of the parametric model building and standard data query etc isrequired, which not only failed to realize the design knowledge inheritance and reuse ofstandardization, but also seriously affected the efficiency of product design. Therefore, this thesisdevelops a rapid design software for surface sheet metal parts based on knowledge by using relatedtheories and methods of knowledge based engineering technology. The main content of the thesis canbe divided into the following five aspects:(1) The thesis presents the technology of feature classification by regarding surface sheet metalparts of the aircraft as the research object, and constructs the parametric model with the method offeature modeling and3D parametric design.(2) In the process of constructing the typical parametric model of surface sheet metal parts, thedesign which directly uses the hybrid design of different modules, can’t satisfy the requirement of thestandard data for the inner topological structure of surface sheet metal parts. In accordance with theproblem, we extract the surface of feature with the standard topological structure in order to improvethe accuracy of design.(3) Aiming at the problem of vast quantity and heavy workload in the configuration of the rivetholes, the specific configuration strategy is researched according to the characteristics of surface sheetmetal parts. Therefore, the configuration algorithm is proposed so as to realize rapid configuration ofthe rivet holes in different forms.(4) The construction process of a knowledge base of rapid design software for surface sheetmetal parts is presented. The knowledge reuse is realized to ensure information interaction betweenusers and software by using the technology of knowledge reasoning.(5) The basic framework and operation process of rapid design software for surface sheet metalparts based on knowledge are built. Treating part design module of CATIA as general platform, theabove research results are applied to the development and realization of software.
