With the continuous development of science and technology, and the improvementof people’s life quality, the requirements of medical consumables have increased yearby year. However, the more and more fake and inadequate medical consumableproducts have caused huge damage to people’s life security and interests. To assure theprofits of enterprises and consumers, it is necessary to trace medical consumables basedon the regulations in medical consumables traceability.Achieving the traceability of the medical consumables can not only reduce medicalincidents and suppress the spread of the counterfeit or poor quality medicalconsumables, but also help the enterprises to discover the sources of the problems, makesure the directions of the same batch products, notice the relevant enterprises to takemeasures after problem products appear and finally assure the customers’ rights andinterests. Therefore, a quality safety and traceability system for medical consumablesbased on RFID is designed and implemented in this paper, in which the radio frequencyidentification technology is used. The specific researches of this paper are as follows:(1) For the existing problems in the quality and safety tracing of medicalconsumables, the structure and business processes of the consumables supply chain areanalyzed in this paper. For the quality and safety tracing key points of the businessprocesses, the quality safety tracing pattern and applying method are researched and thefunctional and non-functional requirements are determined along.(2) For the different business features and the connections of different roles(thematerial suppliers, the production enterprise, the distributors and the hospitals) in thesupply chain, a quality safety and traceability model for medical consumables is builtthat achieves the interaction and integration of the information. Through studying theprocess of tracing based on this model, the system is divided into three modules, inwhich the process of raw material, workpiece process, the circulation process ofproducts are included. For the features that two tracing methods are included in theworkpiece process, a trace method and a weighted solve method are proposed.(3) The quality safety and traceability system for medical consumables is designedby adopting the modular thought. The architecture and network structure of system arebuilt. The system function models and business components are designed whichincludes the trace functions, information feedback functions, data informationmanagement functions and system management functions, etc. Then the data collectionplans are proposed. And finally the database structure is designed through theconnections of the business objects. (4) The quality safety and traceability system is implemented with the J2EE andFlex technology. Then the implementation processes of the key functions are elaborated.At last, the quality safety and traceability system is tested and has met the users’requirements.
