Along with the expediting of the modern progress, the demand of various types ofengineering machine increases rapidly. As the main members of engineering machine, heavyequipments play a more and more important role. In order to reduce the safety accidents, theapplication in heavy equipments of video control system is needed.A lot of video information is needed in video control system, and the amount of videodata is very huge, so wide network bandwidth is needed in video transmission.It’s necessaryto compress the video before transmission. Compared with other video coding standards,H.264/AVC uses many new coding techniques, and it supplies high video compressionefficiency when ensuring high quality. Therefore, it is a hot topic in the research of videocontrol system with H.264.This paper develops video control system with H.264based on S3C6410. Firstly, thegeneral design of the system is given, including introduction of hardware platform andembedded software development platform building. Secondly, H.264compression codingstandard is introduced, and a fast multi-reference frames selection algorithm based ontemporal and spatial correlation is proposed according to the complexity brings bymulti-reference frames technology. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithmcan save about60%of encoding time with the encoding quality almost unchanged. Finally,the video control system is realized in this paper. Multithread program are used both inheavy equipments terminal and control terminal. The heavy equipments terminal mainlycompletes video capture, compression, video streaming sending, control command receivingand responsing. The control terminal mainly completes video receiving, uncompression,video displaying and control command sending.The control system realized in this paper uses the embedded development board andUSB camera as heavy equipments terminal and computer as control terminal. The system isstable in labs with smooth and clear images, and reaches design requirements.
