As the the rapid development of the railway, the speed of the train is more and morehigh and we need the perfect train guarantee system at the same time. Monitoring vehiclespeed for real-time is of vital importance for traffic safety. In the common speed method,Doppler radar speed-measuring has good characteristics such as high precision andreliability. With the rapid development of power electronic technology and DSP digitalsignal processor, the bottleneck which made the radar speed minimized and practicalhave been broken. At present, radar speed-measuring device researched only formeasuring the train speed can be counted on one’s fingers. The foreign research in thisrespect develops earlier, while the domestic research progress on radar speed-measuringdevelops slower. And it is relatively slow in speed measuring precision and speedcomparing with foreign products.To solve the tense situation of train speed-measuring radar deficiency, a radar speedmeasurement system for railway traffic based on digital signal processor TMS320C6745is introduced. The system is designed to be used on high-speed trains. The workingprinciple and the structure of the system are described. This paper analyzes the mainsource of measurement error and the basic principle of radar speed, and puts forward thedouble microwave module more AD sampling, a variety of work mode mutualconversion design ideas under different working conditions to solve the problem of errorand stability. According to the designing idea, we design the corresponding hardwarestructure and software solutions and make a detailed description of the structure,principle and function. After the Doppler frequency signals from the radar microwavemodules are amplified and filtered, the DSP selects the appropriate working mode andgives instructions to collect and process the signals, and eventually sends the results to the display unit. The experimental results show that the system has high accuracy andgood stability.This system research promotes the applications of the DSP in radar speed signalprocessing and has theoretical and practical significance to train radar velocity field ofresearch at present.
