The falling velocity of the projectile has great impact on the power of artillery shells, but because of the complexity of the measurement, at this stage the research in the area is still very rare at home and abroad. According to enough speed datas in the radar measuring range, by data analysis, the use of filtering and prediction algorithms can get the falling velocity. The way overcomes the limitations of the radar measurements, which not to increase the cost of hardware structure but to improve the precision of the measurement and this method can achieve good results.In this paper, we first analyze domestic and international develop situation, describe measure principle, then design the overall scheme. As the aspect of hardware, this article particularly discusses schemes and circuit realization of four function modules, which include high frequency, pretreatment circuit, analog transmission circuit and trigger circuit, then the DSP system design is also discussed.In the actual situation, when the projectile lands, the radar can not directly get the falling velocity. This paper uses a section of the former measurement data to extrapolate the falling velocity. In this paper, first of all, kinds of filtering and prediction algorithms are studied and we select Kalman filter and prediction and least-squares algorithms to deal with the radar measurements. Based on MATLAB, simulation of a good and smooth landing speed can be reached.
