The space debris are increasing with the development of the human spaceflight career, which is a serious threat to the spacecraft in orbit. For the debris whose diameter less than10cm.Increasing the intensity of the spacecraft surface, especially the important working part, could reduce the harm of the space debris. For these reason, protection designs should be verified by a series of hypervelocity impact simulations on the ground, which could also provide reliable data.The two-stage light gas gun is the most widely used ultra-high-speed projectile driven equipment, which has a wide range of adaptation in the quality, size and material of the projectile and high repeatability at the same speed. In the two-stage light gas gun impact experiments, the projectile speed is an important parameter and has important reference values to the analysis of the final experimental results. At the same time, the high-pressure gas and the fragments in the impact experiments cause the risk so the remote control system comes up. In this article, we take the two-stage light gas gun experiment system as the object of study, integrate the computer technology, the communication technology and the sensor technology, then complete the automatic control of the two-stage light gas gun and the speed measurement of the projectile. The main contents are as follows:Chapter one, elaborate the research of the space debris protection and several common speed measurement methods both here and abroad, compare the advantages and disadvantages of the several methods, and introduce the working principle of the two-stage light gas gun briefly.Chapter two, introduce the component of the two-stage light gas gun control system, describe the performance of the sensor and actuators, elaborate the design ideas of the control module, design the data acquisition system which is based on single-chip computer and PCI capture card, and the two-stage light gas gun could work under both the manual mode and the automatic control mode. At last, we elaborate the working principle of the flash triggering high-speed camera.Chapter three, introduce the design and achievement of PC control software.Chapter four, design the speed measurement platform, analyze the basic principle of the mechanical part and the circuit part, designed based on the AD9851and DSP2812of high-frequency pulse generator and counter circuit and we also do the desktop experiment to verify the reliability of the speed measurement system. Chapter five, do the gun experiment, record the experimental data. The experimental signals are collected both by the oscilloscope and the timer. We take the oscilloscope signals as references, explain the error sources of the speed measurement system and analyze the error.By the experimental verification, the control system and the speed measurement equipment achieve great results.
