Open access is an academic exercise which is carried out by the internationalacademic communities, the publishing industries and the library and informationcommunities in order to promote free dissemination of scientific research and advances ofacademic exchanges. It is an idea of academic information sharing and publishingmechanism developed from network environment. With the rapid development ofinformation network, open access has gain more and more attention due to thecharacteristics of information exchange. In this article, we explore the situation anddevelopment trend of open access in China by bibliometrics and clustering analysis,pointed out the problems and put forward corresponding countermeasures. The firstsection summarize the background and significance of this topic as well as research status,and the research skeleton of this article. The difficulties and innovations are pointed out.The structural arrangements are graphic. The second part describe the detail of datasource, research indicators, research strategy, data processing, and the research method.The third part make open access research literatures as data sources. In this part, wediscussed the current situation and the developmental law of open Access in Chinathrough bibliometrics and cluster analysis from time distribution, periodical distribution,distribution of authors, institutions, research topics, fund and cited circumstances,andthen report the research results based on statistics and research indicators. Part IVsummarizes the characteristics, related issues and solutions strategies of open access inChina. The last part sum up research status and development trend of open access inChina. It also point out the inadequacies and future research direction.
