A Study On Knowledge Integration (KI) Of Open Access Resources (OAR)

With the launching of the Budapest's Open-Access (OA) movement,the number of resources from the OA are increasing more and more and show a massive growth.These Open-Access Resources (OAR) is highly intellectual, academic and scientific, and it is the most important latent resources for teaching and researching.Therefore, it is of great significance to discovery, acquire, integrate and use the OAR, to provide users with the convenient ways to access, to enhance the exploitation and utilization of the OAR, to enlarge the service space for users. With the in-depth development of the OA movement, the researchers pay more attention to the explotitation and utilization of the OAR and many systematic platforms that are appearing on the Internet,which are just like lots of islet, brilliant but hard to gain as searching for needles in the sea.In this case,in order to acquire and utilize the OAR, many institutions have developed their own OAR integated platforms,such as DOAJ,Scirus,Open J-Gate,OSD,OAIster and so on. But these platforms are based on the information,they only refect the interrelation of each dependent OA system, but fail to come to the inner part of each OA system,fail to extract and process the inner information of the OA system,and fail to achieve to acquire and integrate the inner knowledge structure of the OA system,as well.This paper attempts to analyse OAR and the theory of its integration, fully comprehend the developed stage of the OAR integration. From the analysis and comparision of the current integration of OAR, we find that all the integrated platforms only remain on the surface of the separate OA information system,but failing to go deeply into the inner part of the OA system, failing to achieve the semantic integration of its functional structure, and failing to integrate its semantic relation of knowledge structure and the knowledge resources. The paper defines the goals and principles of the OAR integration, through analyse the feasibility of OAR knowledge integration(KI), it make us further understand the relevant knowledge and application of the theory, technology and method in KI.The article also deeply analyses the OAR knowledge integration procedure,and discusses how to gain the OA knowledge resources from the OAR system. Through understanding the representation method of the OA knowledge and analysing relevant technology of OA system, we built the framework model of OAR knowledge integration. According to integrate procedure and applicable exemples for Topic Maps and Ontology, we pose two technology strategies in OAR knowledge integration——based on Topic-Maps and Ontology, the paper narrates the process of building the Topic-Maps and Ontology in detail,accomplishes the design for the OAR knowledge integration framework based on Topic-Maps and Ontology,which offers the mentality for the exploition and application of the OAR on knowledge integration system.
