Due to some historical reasons, the civil welfare cause of China has once been relinguished, therefore all the social welfare functions were wielded by the government only in that period of time, this is the reason why some charitable organizations are government-backed. In2011, the "Guo Meimei incident" sparked widespread questioning towards those government-backed charitable organizations. In the same year, the grassroots philanthropic organizations played an important role in many areas, such as helping poor and protecting environment. Because of the grassroots organizations have done many good deeds in this year,2011was honored as "Grassroots Charitable Year".I found there is a good opportunity to do my research using "grassroots charity" as the keywords searching in the Full-text database of China’s major newspapers, there are1004pieces of news published in2011in the database related to my research theme. In contrast, there are only346piece of news in the same database during the last decade. Later, I found study themed with "grassroots charity " is less popular than other relevant studies. Most people prefer to do research in the fields of media image, the usage of media resources and the role of the media in the grassroots organizations rather.Based on the Media Construct Theory, in this paper I adopt the content analysis method to analyze the grassroots charitable news in2011, the aim of this research is to find out how the grassroots charity image has been constructed by these news.
