With the rapid development of mobile network technology and the appearance of various mobile terminals, more and more subscribers hope to enjoy a wide range of services provided by the fixed network in mobile environment. However, some new multimedia applications like video conference and3D online game not only bring about wonderful experience to the internet users, but also make chanlenges in terms of bandwidth and network congestion. The appearance of IP mobile multicast technology offers a new solution to above problems.The IP data stream are allowed to forward form one or more sources to multi-receivers in multicast technology which could increase bandwidth utilization ratio and reduce the possibility of network congestion. With the development and maturity of multicast receiver mobility deployment, the research in multicast source mobility is becoming more important and urgent. According to the deep research of IETF RFCs and drafts, we design and realize a multicast source mobility scheme based on MLD proxy and also a direct routing optimized solution in this paper.Firstly, this paper introduces the significance of the research on multicast source mobility, at the same time describes the IETF RFCs and drafts in MULTIMOB working group briefly. Then we analyse the basic theory and working process of PMIPv6protocol, MLD protocol, PIM-SM protocol and MLD proxy protocol.Secondly, this paper offers the design idea of the MLD proxy based multicast source mobility scheme and direct routing solution, which include three parts-mobility management protocol, multicast protocol and the interaction with PIM-SM and PMIPv6.Thirdly, based on the above design idea, this paper designs the MLD proxy based multicast source mobility deployment and direct routing deployment in detail. The functions of MLD proxy with multi-MLD proxy instances, PIM-SM based PMBR and the interaction with PIM-SM and PMIPv6are realized in this paper. The MLD proxy with multi-MLD proxy instances is consists of proxy, proxy instance, receiver, sender, routing and timing modules. PMBR function is realized by the configuration, inner control message and PIM modules. Adding tunnel query and query result return message queue could realize the function of the interaction with PIM-SM and PMIPv6. Finally, we put up the experiment platform. The function and performance of realized schemes are tested in this platform and the results are analysed briefly. The test results verify the feasibility of our proposed schemes of MLD proxy based multicast source mobility and direct routing.It is also proved that the direct routing scheme can resolve the route redundancy problem.
