Mobility management as the key technology of mobile network technology has received extensive attention. Now, the studies on it are as follows. One is the host-based mobile node mobility management protocol like MIP, one is the network-based mobile node mobility management protocol like PMIP and the other is the host-based mobility network management protocol like NEMO. While host-based protocol needs to modify terminal, which increases the complexity. In contrast, network-based protocol doesn't need the terminal to participate in the process of the mobility management, which liberates the terminal, but cannot support network mobility. If one process the mobility of the mobile network nodes one by one, it will bring up a huge signaling overhead and limit the performance of the protocol.Due to the disadvantage that the network-based mobility management protocol cannot support network mobility, in the paper, we do some deep research on it and finally realize the subnet mobility support by extending the basic Proxy Mobile IPv6.In the paper, first we review the situation of the research on the mobility management. Second, we briefly introduce the works of Proxy Mobile IPv6and Network Mobility basic support protocol, analyze the existing problems when one deploys subnet in the Proxy Mobile IPv6domain and the weak points of available scheme N-PMIPv6. Third, we propose a PMIPv6assisted network mobility management scheme referred to as PA-NEMO. In PA-NEMO, we use a cascade tunneling mechanism, which can intelligently treat the Inter-MAG and Intra-MAG handoff differently, to ease the global nested-tunnel problem existing in N-PMIPv6and simultaneously reduce the handoff signaling overhead. By extending the basic proxy Mobile IPv6protocol, we design the overall framework, divide the function modules in accordance with the functional requirements and design software structure. Then do a realization and testing work in Linux2.6.29.5which can support the mobility of C-NEMO. Finally, we do a brief summary of the whole work in the paper and propose the improving direction of the future work.
