With the rapid development of mobile computing, the demand for small size, large field-of-view high resolution, low-power mobile display terminal is even moreurgent. The Head Mounted Display (HMD) is a typical micro-display terminal, whichhas been widely applied. Currently, Liquid-Cristal on Silicon (LCoS), and OrganicLight-Emitting Diode (OLED) are the two mainstream micro-display technology whileare very suitable for HMD.This paper focuses on micro-display drive control technology in HMD system, and successfully developed two micro-display systems based on these LCoS andOLED micro-display technologies. Firstly, on the basis of the investigation ofmainstream micro-display technology, this article discuses the micro-display drivercontrol, and the interactive interface issues. Then, targeting on the LCoS and OLEDmicro-display technology, we designed and built the micro-display system, whichbased on micro-display control interface to control their display properties. Theexperimental results showed that both the two micro-display technologies can achievea good balance between the requirement for a high-performance, low powerconsumption of the HMD. Then this article studied on the issues of micro-displayimage quality evaluation. The evaluation was performed by using a subjective testmethod. Then, a digital image processing method was used to test the performance ofthe micro-display system objectively, and a comparative analysis was also conductedfor the test results. Finally, we evaluated the performance of our micro-display systemthrough an interactive eyes-tracking test.
