Microwave power divider is a very important passive component in modernmicrowave communication systems, radar systems and electronic countermeasuresystems. It occupies a very important position. Microwave workers are very concernedabout the indicator of the power divider, such as amplitude balance, insertion loss, theisolation between the output ports, the consistency of the phase and volume. Eachindicator will be very important influence to the quality of the whole system.According to the above problem, the main work is to design power divider whichis broadband, small insertion loss, good isolation and phase consistency in this thesis. The detailed work includes:First, the development of microwave power divider and the present research statusare introduced. The theory of microwave power divider are studied and analyzed suchas the theory of three ports and four port network and the theory of Wilkinson powerdivider.Secondly, based on the theory of Wilkinson power divider and impedanceconverter, we designed a2-18GHz broadband power divider. The simulation curves andphysical objects have given. The power divider are measured by the vector networkanalysis and compared with the simulation result. Then, the traditional magic T are analyzed. In order to achieve the compact design,we use a new matching structure and bend the isolated port into the cover plate(patentpending). We design a Ka-band magic T power divider: between31-37GHz, the returnloss is less than18dB, the output amplitude and phase is uniform at output port. Theisolation between the output ports is less than19dB.Finally, we present a new kind of magic T power divider based on the theory ofmagic T and four port networks. This structure is based on the E-plane2way wave-guide power divider(patent pending). A coaxial port is inserted into the narrow side ofwaveguide and connected to the middle baffle plate. We use this structure to design aK-band power divider: between18-26.5GHz, the return loss of input port is more than20dB, the return loss of output port is more than15dB, the isolation between the output ports is less than19dB. The phase consistency between the output ports is less than5degrees.
