The sales management system is pivotal in daily sales of a company, the same to the ceramic tile domain. Establishing effective product management information network, the Sales Management Information System (SMIS), analyzing the information related to the daily sales with modern and scientific methods, provides timely, accurate, systematic and secure information supports and services for the ceramic tile company through the whole process of daily managing, marketing, sales statistics, product designing, consulting and decision making. With the advent of digital and technology age, it is of great indispensability to explore a SMIS that is suitable for ceramic tile industry, not only to satisfy the daily needs of ceramic tile companies but also to informationize, systematize, integrate and modernize the operation and to improve the efficiency.The background information about the study of the SMIS in ceramic tile companies is introduced firstly. Based on the theoretical and empirical achievements of studies of SMIS in domestic industries, the article analyzes the objects of the SMIS in the ceramic tile company, as well as the organization structure, main procedures of the system, data flows in the system and the requirements of functions, and then, the article designs and explains three aspects of the SMIS:models and structures of the calculation, major functions of each module and the security of the system. Third, analyzes and designs the logic model, the table structure and the access of the data base of the system, and introduces the technologies used in the SMIS under the perspectives of the dynamic web pages and system construction technical routes. The operation model adopted is that the storages and the shops are separately managed and the SMIS is divided into the following parts functionally:customer management, supplier management, product management, sales management, purchasing management, allocation management, checking management and financial management, besides, the system takes the advantages of software development of B/S models, based on three layers structure of the client and server, managing applications centralized on the server and making information closed related among applications, leading to an easy and convenient access of different applications stored on the web server for different users who only have to use a standard browser and then, at the same time, can save and take all kinds of data by the link between the server of application and the server of data base. At last, the article summarizes and puts forward the research prospects of the SMIS.What is notable is that, not a single SMIS is universal. It needs to be designed by the unique traits of different industry, like ceramic tile industry, and by the different management mode in order to make the Sales Management Information System closed related to its own company.
