The Research And Implementation Of A Remote Monitoring System Based On Wireless Technology

Since ancient times, caring the old man has always been an indispensable part ofour life, which is also an important part of our traditional custom. But，because of thepopulation policy of our country, our country has come to an aging era, and also, themajority of them live alone. In recent years, there are more and more reports thatsome of them died or became paralyzed, which is caused by diseases or someemergencies, and no one knew. But, for the current monitoring systems, there aremany disadvantages to be used in that field.Aiming at this issue, this paper proposes the design of a new remote monitoringsystem based on wireless technology. This system uses Zigbee protocol and GSMmobile network, and finally, the system mixes the Zigbee network, GSM network andInternet together. Using TI’sCC2530, build a home wireless monitoring network, anddesign the end device as a wearable emergency signal transmitter. Using thelow-energy-cost MCU STC12C5A60S2as the GSM’s controller, and combining itwith the coordinator, establishes a home wireless station. This station can receive thealerting signal form the end device, and then trigger the GSM module to dial or send amessage.To improve the Zigbee network’s statility and prolong its lifetime, based on theLEACH routing algorithm, this paper presents an improved LEACH routingalgorithm by optimizing the calculation of the cluster head’s threshold. The simulationresults show that the improved LEACH can effectively improve the datat’stransmission efficiency and prolong the network’s lifetime.The wireless remote monitoring system is a specific application of embeddedtechnology used in the home monitoring, which is particularly used for the old peoplewho live alone, and also, it makes up some shortcomings of the current monitoringsystems. This system is not only fit for the old man living alone, but also can be usedin some other situations, like nursing home, hospital, and rural areas. It can effectivelyreduce the fact that when someone gets into emergency situations, he/she dies orbecomes apoplectic due to the ignorance of his/her situation. Using wirelesscommunication technology, it will make the devices cheaper and easier to use. So itwill have great market prospect and potential customers.
