Wireless sensor network (WSN) was widely used in with its unique architecture and features in many areas nowadays such as national security, ecological environment monitoring, medical monitoring, intelligent building management etc. ZigBee is a kind of Low-Rate Wireless Area Network (LR-WPAN) based on IEEE802.15.4standard. Ion Mobility Spectrometry (IMS) is characterized with high sensitive, fast response and low detection limit, what makes IMS suitable for the trace monitoring of some volatile organic compounds particularly.In this dissertation, we research and design establishment of wireless monitoring network that based on ZigBee and IMS technology, making a proposal of monitoring network networking and achieve the establishment of the tree network. Study the specific functions, protocol structure and term relations of the physical layer, MAC layer, network layer and application layer combined with ZigBee2007specification. The overall system architecture of monitoring network is designed, including the core hardware and software platform for monitoring node and control node.This dissertation designs and implements the node in IMS unit and the wireless network unit. The unit core components of IMS, ion mobility tube is designed, processed and assembled. It also designs the schematic and PCB, completes wireless transmission module and function expansion module. We adopt TI’s latest system-on-chip (SoC) CC253x series as a core of hardware node design. Following the in-depth study of the Z-Stack protocol stack implementation mechanism, we focus on the operation mechanism of abstraction layer belonging to OSAL operating system, analyze the process of network establishment with coordinator node, as well as the process of end device adding into the network., based on what the coordinator nodes broadcast communication and serial transmission applications is achieved, as well as end device unicast communication and serial transceiver applications. This dissertation also presents and analyzes network management and maintenance functions, establishes the wireless network. Using the C#as programming language to implement node serial communication with the host computer software, node data transceiver is achieved on this programming language platform.We test performance of the monitoring network node, as well as detect and identify common explosives samples. According to the result of wireless communication test, the establishment of monitoring network has been achieved with a certain distance of wireless transmission module, node networking and data transmission become reality meanwhile.
