College Counselor Based Business Intelligence Decision Support System Research And Application

It’s still difficult to make scientific decisions for the counselor teams’ building or managethem by the current methods, such as manually manage statistical information counselor,submitted to the provincial education department progressively, the lack of efficientdecision-support tools those prevented us from digging furture informations from the existingdata.To resolve this problem, it’s necessary to develop an integrated network platformdepending on the counselors information management system, using modern webtechonology to managing, analyzing the counselors information, so that the decision makingwill be supported better, which is necessary for the counselors to becoming more and moreprofessional.Firstly, the author analyzes the current working status of counselor team building andintroduces the development and application of the decision-making system. Secondly, find aopen source solution, which is based on data warehousing technology, using online analyticalprocessing and data mining technology. Thirdly, use the open source tool----"Kettle" for datacleaning, conversion and transmission in the "data preparation area".Fourthly, model for thefollowing five themes: the management of persion, information of school, researchment ofscientific, staff’s turnover and their trainings. The modeling is based on star modeling, usinganother open source tool called "Infobright column database" as the data warehouse part.Fifthly, using open source server called "Rolap" as the "OLAP" server, which can helpdecision makers know more about the status of Counselor teams’ building by analyzing andprocessing the generated data cube online. sixthly, the system was developed under MVCmodel on J2EE platform, the analyzing report can be shown in the following methods as youlike, such as statistical sheets, anazysis sheets, pie charts, histograms, bar charts, trend graphsand so on.Finally, the system was tested and the testing result indicates the statistical analysissubsystem can run normally and extract data accurately, the basic properties reached thedesign criteria, and achieve the purpose of providing information reference anddecision-making based on the Ministry of Education and the university leadership.
