Research On The DSS For Container Feeder Service Based On Data Warehouse

W Shipping Co. Ltd. has been operating in container feeder service of Pearl River Delta region with great pressure of competition. On one hand, the general service quantity in the Pearl River Dealt region is not satisfactory; On the other hand, there are too many companies operating in container feeder service , most of which are lack of effective management. In order to be competitive among many competitors and take charge of more resources, the service quality and level of container feeder service must be improved. So it is necessary to develop an Auxiliary Decision Support System for W Shipping Co. Ltd which can be used to evaluate the service quality of container feeder service and increase its core competitiveness in Pearl River Delta region.Firstly, this thesis introduces the history of DSS, points out the background and method of the researching task. Secondly, it casts light on the technologies related to DSS and MS Analysis Services technologies. Then the structure and characteristics of DSS based on Data Warehouse are discussed. Lastly, according to a practical project, the thesis illustrates how to establish a data warehouse to support Shipping Auxiliary Decision Support System.According to practice of shipping industry, the thesis mainly emphasizes on putting forward a rational and feasible method to build a data warehouse in domestic shipping industry domain and implementing relative data analytical processing.Finally, the relative and corresponding susggestions are made so as to improve the service quality and level of shipping companies.
