Study On The Association For Library Service To Children (ALSC)

Status and role of culture in today's era of increasingly important and prominent.The library is a cultural symbol of the country, the nation, the city, which provides free space for the community between people and information with direct exchanges.Children as the future of humanity, is a very important target group of library services.China is also increasing emphasis on the development of children, in view of this,as a library person, I believe that it is necessary to conduct in-depth exploration of library services for children.I selected an organization that has done quite well in children's library services. It's called the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC). I studied ALSC through online research.Survey of its development situation, main activities, social impact and inspiration of development experience in these areas in-depth inquiry for China.On the basis of the collection of large amounts of data translation, analysis, summed up the social impact of the ALSC.It mainly elaborated from four aspects:ALSC affected children, librarians, libraries, guardians of children and their communities.The survey found that ALSC impact on children mainly as follows:to promote the healthy psychological development of children, and promote the children carry out a comprehensive education, and encourage children to read actively, to maximize the protection of the rights of children to achieve.Its major impact on the Librarians is to enhance the librarians' professional skills, extend networking opportunities for librarians, improve the level of service, help librarians realize their own values.On libraries mainly to strengthen the children's library career management, expand children's library services, and promote the library science education, expand the social impact of the children's library.Impact on children's guardians and communities mainly for provide support and assistance for the family education, provide guidance and exchange the parent-child reading, provide a broader space for community information service, provide equitable services to the diverse members of the community.Finally, based on my research, analyzes and summarizes the development experience of enlightenment about the ALSC.Revealing the following two levels:The first level is the ALSC focus on trade mission, led LIS library services and industry to progress and development; the second level is the ALSC based on social responsibility, strengthen learning ability for children and associated personnel, protection of their rights of access to information. Shouldering the responsibility for the mission to promote the development of the industry is reflected in industry advocacy, vocational education and industry team-building, industry policy and standard setting and membership development and organization optimization; bear the responsibility to promote social progress is reflected in the Children's Library rights maintenance and provision of services pluralism.
