Notes Of Textual Collation And Criticism Of MengZiZhuShu

MengZiZhuShu(Commentary and subcommentary of the Mencius),the edition pressed by Ruan Yuan,is a part of ShiSanJingZhuShu(the Commentary and subcommentary the Thirteen Confuciuan Classics),which is a reference often used by scholars and researcher workers of the study of history and classics. After the SliSanJingZ(?)uShu together pressed, Ruan Yuan’s edition considered as the best and praised and cited by many scholars and specialists. These days, various collated and punctuative editions of RuanYuan’s original edition came out,it is useful and convenient for reading classcics. While the above-mentioned phenomenon gave rise to a series of problems,such as though Ruan Yuan’s edition consulted numerous other editions of The Mencius,the editions themselves have many errors and not the best ones. Otherwise, Ruan Yuan’s edition,actually,has many pressed editions.Thus the quality of handed-down editions varies from each other. Moreover,the latest collated and punctuative editions of RuanYuan’s original edition have many places remain to be discussed as they did not set apart the different editions of Ruan Yuan’s edition. MengZiZ(?)uShu as a part of S(?)iSanJing Z(?)Shu,also has the before-mentioned problems.
