The Notes And Commentaries of Thirteen Classic Works, compiled by Ruan Yuan, is thought to be the best edition in the history. One of its merits is that this book took plenty of other editions as reference. Addendum Together With Textual Research on the Seven Confusion and Mencius, is a masterpiece written by a Japanese scholar in1980s, which was quite valued in China. This paper will make a comparison between the same commentaries in The Book of Rites of these two books, and preliminary make it clear that how The Seven Confusion and Mencius influenced on Ruan Yuan’s commentaries.
