With the rapid development of mobile media technology and the fast expansion of mobile media influence, it is inevitable for current university students to live in mock environment constituted by various kinds of media such as cell phones, which have a lot of influences on their study, life and thinking modes. Because today’s university students grow in an era of changes and innovations, they boast unique group characteristics in their values, life styles, behavior modes and psychological features. Therefore, it is pretty necessary for the students to improve their mobile media literacy. The research, by launching theme activities of mobile media literacy education aimed at university students, mainly aims to improve mobile media literacy of students, and then to cultivate students’ citizenship consciousness and transform their thinking modes and thus lay a foundation for their lifelong development.With a definition of theme activities of mobile media literacy education through documentary research method and an analysis of conditions and teaching demand of mobile media literacy through questionnaire investigation method, the paper puts forward the necessity to launch these activities. The paper makes a primary goal and subsidiary goals for the theme activities through analyzing psychological features and group characteristics of university students. Under the guidance of these goals, the theme activities are mainly divided as five factors:theme selection, situation creation, content designation, and evaluation designation. According to the goals and five factors of the theme activities, the author has designed three theme activities and practically carried them out with the objective students who attend liberal arts curriculum of "Visual Culture&Media Manner" provided by the Nanjing Normal University undergraduate course. Finally, the author analyzes the effect of the theme activities through activities video backtracking, questionnaire investigation and students’ experience and understandings. Optimization of activities plan and specific cases will be continued.Substantial evidences show that launching the theme activities is effective for mobile media literacy education of university students. Meanwhile, the education should focus on cultivating students’ capacity to participate in mobile media information. The essay also indicates that a theme properly selected and a complete design function as prerequisites to successful theme activities, and iterative design plays an important role of guarantee in the process of the theme activities.
