With a wide range of applications in automotive, the automotive electronics hasbeen a great deal of development. The wires in the car have increasingly becomebarriers which will impact the vehicle to improve the reliability of the safety and reducecosts. Based on this trend, in the early1980s, Bosch developed the CAN bus to solvethe problem of data exchange between automotive electronic control devices. Gradually,CAN bus is widely used in industrial, transportation, health care, education and so on.CAN bus has the advantages of high speed, high reliability and high real-time. Theprotocol of CAN bus will greatly reduce the difficulty of development and shorten thedevelopment cycle. This paper is aim to design and research the CAN transceiver chip of CAN systemapplication. This chip should fulfill the ISO11898standard and be high-speed,low-power. CAN transceiver chip connects protocol controller and the physical bus, toensure that the functionality of the physical layer and the data link layer. The essence oftransceiver is turn differential signal processed into serial digital signal, and then sendsthem to the protocol controller, It’s like level shifting function. This CAN transceiverchip module includes data transmission module and data receiver module, reliabilitymodule which including the controllable external module, temperature protectionmodule, dominant timeout module. Reference source for the entire chip provides astable DC bias voltage. And reference module provides2.5V level for the CANcontroller. The simulation of the circuit is by using Cadence, the design of the CANtransceiver can be fully realized in function and performance.
