With the rapid development of communication technology, network systems andprovided services show a scene of diversity. The increasing demand of user comfort andbusiness requirement also gradually aggravates the difficulty of realizing single networktechnology. The coexistence and fusion of variety of communication network is aneffective method to use the limited network resource reasonably and efficiently, whichhas become one of the main directions of the development of the information network.The proposition and study of heterogeneous network emerges as the times requires.Heterogeneous network structure is designed to interconnect various existingcommunication network systems such as UMTS and WLAN, using various fusiontechnologies. Making use of the complementary among these technologies, we canachieve maximum network advantage and provide users with more extensive andconvenient service. Interconnecting each network is a constructive but also verychallenging technical thought, so the research on heterogeneous network has graduallybecome the focus of the communication field. The research of end-to-end QoSmanagement architecture and diversified control technologies are becoming two of themain directions. This paper mainly focuses on the research of system architecture andQoS mapping technology on the level aspect, which can be said as QoS class mappingtechnology.On the aspect of QoS management system architecture, we mainly make use of theadvantage of PBNM management method proposed by IETF, researching its concreteimplementation approach in heterogeneous network. On the aspect of QoS classmapping technology, we design and achieve the mapping process based on the policymanagement method by doing survey and study of the existing QoS class mappingmethods.The concrete research contents are as follows:The first chapter briefly introduces the background of heterogeneous network, andpoints out the main research task of this paper.The second chapter mainly introduces the two basic research points: policy-basedmanagement method and QoS class mapping technology. The third chapter is the design of policy management framework. Relying onend-to-end QoS support system framework of heterogeneous network, this chapter givesconcrete implementation ways of policy management method, and designs policyinformation interaction process based on nodes, and at last, analyzes the realization ofQoS class mapping process.The fourth chapter gives the realization technology details based on the laboratoryexisting facilities, according to the policy management framework in chapter third.The fifth chapter is the experimental tests. We set up an experimental platform andperform several experiments to verify our design in chapter third and chapter fourth.The sixth chapter summarizes research work of this paper and discusses the furtherresearch plan.
