Ad hoc is a fast-constructed communication network without fixed basic facilities. It is widely used in the army, emergency and disaster rescue, which has a bright future development. However, the security of Ad hoc is a bottleneck in its development. Now basic Ad hoc routing protocol only implements network function without considering the security of the protocol. Most secure routing protocols, improved from basic routing protocol, adopt an encrypting method to protect the integrity, confidentiality and non-repudiation of their routing information. But these methods decreased the efficiency of the protocols while increased the security of the networks. Thus, how to implement a high efficiency and secure routing protocol is an important concentration in Ad hoc.In order to make Ad hoc routing protocol keep balance between effici ency and safety, this article provides EN-SAODV protocol from SAODV protocol, based on deep research of working principle of Ad hoc routing protocol and safety routing protocol. The EN-SAODV protocol effectivel y increases the network safety with using Random response, multiple prot ocol and with lower protocol cost. The improved protocol has some features as follows.1) The design of SAODV protocol does not consider the attack from the malicious nodes of internal network. EN-SAODV protocol applies a random number answering mechanism to avoid these attacks.2) EN-SAODV protocol uses Diffie-Hellman session key negotiation and encrypted communicating information in the routing process to avoid eavesdropping attack.3) SAODV protocol decreases efficiency while increases security. EN-SAODV adopts multi-router mechanism to increase the efficiency of the protocol, reduce times of routing discovery and decrease the cost of the network.4) EN-SAODV protocol employs ECC (Elliptic Curve Cryptography) instead of RSA, which has faster signature and hash calculation speed, to decrease the costs of nodes. At last, in this paper, the simulations of EN-SAODV protocol with and without internal malicious nodes are conducted by using OPNET network simulation software. The results show that compared with SAODV protocol, the security and efficiency of EN-SAODV protocol has increased obviously.
