Due to the lack of appropriate business mode, manufacturing resources’ intelligentsharing and dynamic assigning is an important problem in network manufacturingsystem. To solve this problem, the concept of cloud manufacturing is put forward.Cloud manufacturing is a new model of service-oriented network manufacturing, whichintegrates networked manufacturing technology and cloud computing, as well as theInternet of things to provide a unified, centralized, intelligent management andoperating for various manufacturing resources.In order to achieve the centralized management of cloud manufacturing resourceswhich distributed in different geographical locations, those manufacturing resourcesneed to be discovered firstly, so resources discovery mechanism is the key point ofcloud manufacturing research. Based on the project “Cloud Method of UnderlyingProcessing Equipment for Cloud Manufacturing”(51005260) funded by NationalNatural Science Foundation of China, and choosing processing resources as researchobject, resources discovery mechanism can be elaborated from three aspects, which arethe frame of cloud manufacturing resources discovery system, information model ofprocessing resources, and resources matching rules.Semantic Web is an extension of current Web, which endows information withidentified meaning in a structured and standardized way, thereby increasing theintelligence level of information processing. For the purpose of processing resourcesautomatic discovering, semantic Web technologies are used to build cloudmanufacturing system. Four layers of resources discovery frame are proposed, consistsof resource entities layer, resource Agents layer, knowledge layer and user layer.Responding modules are elaborated such as resources management, task management,information integration and knowledge reasoning.The information model of processing resources and processing tasks areestablished by ontology, and described by the Web Ontology Language (OWL).Ontology is an important component of the semantic Web, which has ability to integratethe semantic meaning into information model. The concept of domain ontology is putforward, which improves the resources modeling efficiency and knowledge sharingcapability.Processing resource discovery system requires the support of corresponding matching mechanism. After analyzing the information model of processing resourcesand processing tasks, four matching rules are proposed, and described by the SemanticWeb Rule language (SWRL).Through ontology editing software Protégé and knowledge reasoning plug-in Pellet,processing resources discovery mechanism is simulated, and expected results arereached. Conclusion can be obtained from simulation results that the informationmodel and system frame are reasonable, and the resources discovery mechanism iseffective.In the end, the achievement of this paper is summarized, and the suggestion andplans for the further work are proposed.
