With space exploration missions increased complex, payloads and scientificinstruments integrated in satellites which all play different roles are more and m ore,and put forward higher requirements to the on-board network’s data processingability. Meantime, this ability is not confined to high-speed transmission, but alsothe quality of service appears extremely important, which including reliability anddeterminism. As a new high-speed data transmission network which followingmany key principles and concepts, SpaceWire has irreplaceable advantages in datarate compared with other traditional bus. However, because of its special flowcontrol and routing scheme, there also exist some problems, like network-blocking,transmission uncertainty and so on. For these reasons, taking topology and qualityof service into consideration, this essay has done some research on how to provideQoS including reliability and determinism for SpaceWire network.Firstly, considering the new QoS needs in SpaceWire applications, this essayhas completed a detailed analysis of research work on topology and the drafts of theQoS protocol stack. Based on this, puts forward a validation solution to theredundatnt network consists of node, router and topology. Then, to ensure the QoSof the SpaceWire network, this paper designes a reasonable QoS model and gives aclear description of its operation mechanism additionally. Secondly, On the basis ofthe detailed study of SpaceWire, PID, RMAP, which are in the QoS protocol model,a RMAP-compliant IP core which has a good user interface and the characteristicsof modularity is designed with hardware description language Verilog HDL, besides,a1010non-blocking crossbar route matrix core with round-robin arbitrationschemes implemented, can be expanded on link ports and configured flexiblely tosupport group adaptive routing. At the same time, to make sure QoS can beachieved in hardware and firmare, SpaceWire node and router based on one kind offunction unit which can provide QoS service in reference to the deterministictransmission protocol draft is completed. Finally, to verify the rationality andfeasibility of the designed QoS mechanism, a redundant SpaceWire networkplatform is done, assisted with kinds of software tools, including Driver Studio,Visual Studio, etc.By means of lots of function simulation, verification tests and efficiencyanalysises, last results show that the SpaceWire network which has the property ofredundancy and QoS, can make full use of SpaceWire link’s high speed, and at the same time guarantee the packets’ reliability and certainty when transmitted in anetwork. Thus, it can satisfy the basic QoS service for different types of data flowin network, and have some inspiration and reference for SpaceWire’s futureresearch and application.
