The1.5-1.7μm lightwave is eye-safe wavelength because of its little harm to humaneyes. Also, it is the atmosphere transmission window because of it little loss in theatmosphere.Now the Nd:YAG laser Rangefinders are technical matured and used widely. But theNd:YAG laser Rangefinders have their limitation, that they are easy damage human eyes,and have big loss when transmit through the atmosphere. The1.5x μm laser is one way totake place of the Nd:YAG laser as the new Rangefinder.In this paper the several major1.5x μm eye-safe laser technologies were reviewed,and especially analyzed and discussed them. The Er:Glass Laser, OPO laser and Ramanlaser are all have their own potentials.In this paper the Diode-Pumped E-O Ceramics Q-switched Er:Yb:Glass laser isexperimented as the research way, and bring forward a further research opinion.This paper can be a reference of building eye-safe laser.
