Distributed industrial control system is the currently main form of industrial control systems. Field-bus devices, intelligent devices and sensors continuously added to the distributed industrial control systems, control functions could be physically distributed in many devices, different devices software interconnected through communication network to reduce the system’s flexibility. IEC61499standard defines a set of specific independent implementation-format to describe the basic concepts of function blocks and design methods, which is the international standard to design distributed industrial process measurement and control system (IPMCS) by using function blocks. It provides the new idea for building object-oriented, full-open, full-distributed new industrial control system, and is the future trend for the industrial control system.This paper briefly introduced the main elements of IEC61499standard, the system model and the block classification. Meanwhile it briefly described the IEC61499standard research status, and proposed important practical significance of block simulation with the current industrial background which also is the main content of this research.By characteristic analysis the function block of IEC61499standard and simulating the current technology trend, this paper proposed to achieve function block of UML modeling and C#classes implementation by using the UML modeling language with object-oriented programming language, and Visio and Visual Studio’s seamless integration.Meanwhile, we took the PID function block for example to achieve the control algorithm.Finally, this paper developed a PC-based software implementation of the basic function blocks by design the structural framework of simulation software, the software operating processes, and HMI. And we used the basic function block control system design and simulation, and simulated the simple example. At last we gave a summary of the work and the outlook.
