Basic concepts and ideas are given by the new industrial standard IEC61499, about the design modularized, reusable and distributed IPMCS (Industrial Process Measurement and Control Systems). In such a distributed application, robust, reusable and P&P software component - Function Block (FB) , works as the principal module, in a format that independent on concrete implementation. FB-oriented, open-structured distributed control system is highly required by the IPMCS application in the whole life cycle, and is going to be a leading methodology for the design of the new generation IPMCS.By now, there are still few articles focused on the basic research of IEC61499. A new methodology forward to the design of IPMCS based on IEC61499 function block is indicated in this thesis, which has defined a basic application structure to the design, construction, implementation, verification and standardization of IPMCS.This thesis is mainly constructed as follows:Firstly, the basic concepts of IEC61499 are introduced and the researches of IEC61499 all over the world are summarized. Also, the existing problems are formulized to illustrate the applying situation of IEC61499 standard in our country.Secondly, a complex application system is constructed based on the IEC61499 standard and Model-View-Control (MVC) design pattern, and then, a related engineering methodology is introduced.Thirdly, the extended work to build a complete system is modelling and verification, which can maximize the performance of the system. Error check of the states conversion is also finished in this step. For that, IEC61499 standard based Net Condition/Event System (NCES) models are developed which fit in with the VEDA rules.Forthly, a basic concept of FBML (Function Block Markup Language) is provided based on the IEC61499 standard. With such a language, each component of IEC61499 standard could be described in detail with XML documents, which is a good foundation for the development of supporting tools.Finally, a framework of FB development tool is introduced briefly for the future work.
