To develop teachers’ continuing education is the effective way to improve thequality and professionalization of teachers. Also it is the key to implement qualityeducation. In order to meet the requirements of the full-aspect development of qualityeducation and reformation of fundamental education, teachers should establishlong-life learning conception, and enhance their own quality and teaching skillsthrough continuing education. This dissertation keeps eyes on regional basiceducation reform and takes questionnaire and interview as analysis methods to take aresearch on the current situation of elementary and secondary school teachers’continuing education in Lushun Economic Development Zone. Base on the researchand analysis, this essay is going to discuss the problems exist and provide suggestionson improvement accordingly.This dissertation contains four parts. The first part is introduction. This part isgoing to state the purpose and meaning of this analysis, and show the current situationof primary and secondary school teachers’ continuing education around the world, andexplain relevant research concept. The second is about to expound theory ofelementary and secondary school teachers’ continuing education. The long-lifeeducation, teacher’s education and teacher’s specialization is the theoretical basis ofthis essay. The third is to show the research results of the questionnaire and interviewon continuing education of teachers in Lushun Economic Development Zone and theanalysis of the results. Firstly, this part generally analyzes the development of LushunEconomic Development Zone and basic situation of primary and secondary schoolteachers. Then this part demonstrates the continuing education of teachers in LushunEconomic Development Zone in detail through several aspects, such as teacher’sattitude towards continuing education, object and content of continuing education,organized type of continuing education, allocation of expense and training time, and assessment and evaluation and so on. This part also shows the problems exist. Finally,according to the situation of elementary education in Lushun Economic DevelopmentZone and the experiences of teachers’ continuing education at home and abroad, thisessay is going to offer strategy and suggestions from four aspects: administrativedepartment for education, training institution, schools teachers teach in and primaryand secondary school teachers themselves.
