These years, with the deepening of new curriculum reform, a lot of experts, scholars and teachers have been making great efforts to research on how to teach the students Chinese in a new way as well as implement the ideas of curriculum reform featuring the students’ independent, cooperative and exploring way of learning. Under this situation, the Block-type Teaching Model proposed by Mr. Yu Yingchao, a famous and experienced Chinese teacher, has come into being, attracting a lot of attention and becoming very popular in Chinese education field. The Block-type Teaching Model is both of theoretical and practical importance. It can be put into extensive use, attaining impressive achievements.This paper looks for the origin of Block-type Teaching Model in view of theory, analyzes its characteristics, functions and implementing approaches, and explores the reasons why it is a success. Based on the status survey, this paper analyzes the status quo of how the Block-type Teaching Model has been carried out. Comparing the related data from the survey results with the actual cases concerning this teaching model, this paper explores why it is a success and whether it neglects something, what gains it can make and what lead to the losses. In a scientific point of view, this paper looks into the advantages and disadvantages of the Block-type Teaching Model. And considering its practices, this paper looks for how to resolve these problems. The whole paper consists of four partsChapter I There comes the introduction to the aforementioned Chinese teacher, Mr. Yu Yingchao as well as his views and suggestions of and for the teaching and learning of the subject of Chinese in high school. With the help of Mr. Yu’s own teaching experiences, it is easier to understand his Block-type Teaching Model. This part introduces its theoretical basis, teaching/learning objectives, teaching procedures, features and functions, all aiming at an overall view into Block-type Teaching Model.Chapter II With a summary to the status quo concerning the implement of Block-type Teaching Model, a status survey regarding the actual practices of this teaching model is made. Based on the analysis of the data resulting from the survey, a conclusion and dialectical analysis is carried out on the gains and losses within the practicing of Block-type Teaching Model, aiming to find out the reasons that lead to this phenomenon.Chapter III Considering theses reasons, an explorative analysis is made of how to implement Block-type Teaching Model in a more reasonable way. From the two aspects both of theory and practice, aiming at more reasonable implementation of this teaching model, this part is expected to be meaningful while guiding the practices.Chapter IV Based on one case of Mr. Yu Yingchao’s own Chinese lessons(The Winter in Jinan City, a lesson record), objective and dialectical comments on Block-type Teaching Model are made. Analyzing the lesson record of The Balcony Will Not Be Closed Tomorrow, a teaching case that imitates Mr. Yu’s lessons, the writer hopes that it can guide the reasonable implementation of Block-type Teaching Model in practical teaching and learning.Conclusion Noted that in the present study deficiencies, in the future teaching practice will continue to pay attention to this subject and research.
