Investigation On The Situation Of Ganzi Minority Traditional Sports Activities

with the development of society, traditional minority sports activities are decreasing or even are threatened with extinction with each passing day due to people’s lifestyle changes, the impact of the natural and social environment as well as the fracture of the cultural heritage system. Conducting research on the development of traditional minority sports activities in Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture (Hereinafter referred to as Ganzi) on the occasion of promoting "Ganzi Spirit’" could help Ganzi unite its people internally, and build its image externally with traditional sports culture as the core cohesive force. Probing into the values of traditional minority sports activities, grasping the law of their development and exploring related measures for remodeling the sports activities with Tibetan characteristics are effective means and important initiatives to protect and inherit traditional minority sports, and promote sustainable development.With a general survey of the traditional minority sports activities in Ganzi as the pointcut, and the sociology, sports science and science of religion as the theoretical basis of this study, this paper carried out field research on the development of traditional minority sports activities at the present stage in Ganzi through research methods such as literature method, investigation method and logical analysis. The survey results show that,1) the special geographic and cultural environment of Ganzi breeds a natural, unaffected, original and straightforward sports style, currently its traditional minority sports activities are endowed with the spirit of new times;2) there are still certain gaps between the actual development of traditional minority sports activities in Ganzi and the expectation of its people. The implementation of traditional sports activities is mainly attached to folk festivals, with shows as the key type. Civil groups play a dominant role in holding such sports activities, and teen-agers and middle-aged people are the main force of the traditional sports activities;3) modern sports are gradually being accepted by the people within the region;4) traditional minority sports didn’t get enough attention in the schools within the region;5) the development of tourism promotes the development of traditional minority sports activities to a great degree; and6) traditional minority sports in Ganzi need beneficial transformation and reconstruction in the future on the basis of respect for the national customs and traditions. Based on the results of the discussion, this paper puts forward the corresponding development ideas and suggestions as follows:1) the government should attach great importance to the excavation, reorganization and protection of traditional minority sports:2) strengthen the sports culture exchanges between different nationalities;3) differentiate, refine and innovate the sports activities based on the actual demand of its people, so as to meet the demand of different people at different levels;4) intensify publicity, guide rationally, and strengthen ideological changes;5) properly treat the relationship between traditional sports and modern sports, and introduce traditional minority sports into school physical education;6) promote the industrialized development of traditional minority sports activities; and7) take positive protection measures for traditional minority sports, and strengthen the reform of the management system.
