In order to face with the big change of the pattern of the world energy, to cope with thechange of global climate and the challenges of power grid, China launched the research andpractice of smart grid. In recent years, smart grid technology is getting mature, people’s researchis getting more and more deeper on smart grid. With the rapid development of power industry,the various of technology applied in smart grid have been born, such as the wireless sensornetwork technology, the monitoring and control of power lines and power equipment, intelligentpower distribution and electric technology, large power grid intelligent scheduling andtransmission of intelligent power technology.The wireless sensor network technology can realize data collection, data processing anddata transmission. Wireless sensor network consists of a large number of tiny sensor nodes aredensely distributed in unattended monitoring area, the formation of intelligent autonomouscontrol network system. Wireless sensor network is a distributed system of a large scale,unattended, strictly limited resources, with multi hop peer-to-peer communication mode, and thedynamic changes in the network topology having self-organized, autonomous, adaptiveintelligent property.This paper summarizes the development status and application fields of intelligent sensortechnology, a brief introduction to the wireless sensor network (WSN) and ZigBee technicalcharacteristics as well as an overview of the substation. On the basis, the article aims to designthe application of the substation of wireless smart sensor network based on ZigBee, selects theTSZ-CC2430of shenzhen golden Tuxu ang Co.Ltd suite to implement hardware and software ofthe node development suite node hardware and software design. Taking environment monitoringsystem of intelligent substation as the research object, the article realizes real-time monitoring ofthe internal environment in substation, to ensure the safety and reliability of operation of theequipment. An environmental monitoring in smart substation is necessary. By it, the user can getthe substation environment information, this paper mainly studies temperature and humidity ofthe environment, such as SHT10temperature and humidity sensor. Through the information, wecan control the operation of other devices and equipments. The environment monitoring systemof intelligent substation is to provide safe, reliable and stable operation for substation, and hasimportant effect on construction of intelligent substation.Firstly, the paper introduces the development status of smart grid and wireless sensornetworks. And a simple overview of research at home and abroad is introduced. Then the keytechnologies and applications of wireless sensor network are introduced.In addition, it alsocompared the communication technology of wireless sensor networks.Secondly, according to the system needs, it chooses the chips and designs the system circuit. .Then, based on ZigBee, it design a wireless sensor monitoring system to implement themonitoring and control of intelligent substation environment. And the software part of the systemis designed.Finally, based on the interface of super ordination machine, monitoring system isintroduced.
