Wireless sensor network is a realization of on-line monitoring emergingtechnology. It combined with many kind of advanced technology such as the sensortechnology, transmission technology, embedded computing technology, distributedinformation processing technology microelectronics manufacturing technology,software programming technology. Wireless sensor network is a real-time monitoring,which can perception, collection, transmission and deal with various environmental ormonitoring object information. It has the dynamic and self-organization. Due togrounding grid is laid in the ground. It would be result in grounding breakage bycorrosion, which could cause joint or leak the conductor of the imaginary welding.This phenomenon could make the deterioration of electrical performance parametersof the grounding grid and the safety operation of the power grid will be seriousimpaction. Through the wireless sensor network can realize real-time and on-linemonitoring of grounding grid and ensure the safe operation of the power system. Itwill be promoting the development of intelligent power system.This paper based on the monitoring system of substation grounding grid, ZigBeetechnology as the theoretical support, which is design of wireless sensor networkstatus monitoring system of substation grounding grid. The system includes hardwareand software part, which are based on modular design principle. Two parts arecommunicated with each other according to a certain communication protocol, whichmakes it easy to maintain and extend. The system use TI company’s CC2430forwireless RF chip and peripheral auxiliary circuit, so as to set up the network hardware platform. In terms of hardware design, first put forward the complete systemhardware circuit diagram, the key design sensor node module and terminal nodemodules of the hardware design, finally completed the software of the design, whichinclude three parts which is design of sensor node module software, terminal nodemodule software and control center module software. It can establish a completingsoftware system.Compared with the traditional cable detection methods, wireless sensor networkcan fast real-time monitoring of substation grounding grid, which is more expansibleflexibility and easy to management, this way can reduce a lot of manpower. It is greatsignificance to power system intelligent, information technology, automation,meanwhile it is provided a new approach for status monitoring and prediction ofgrounding grid.
