Belt Conveyor is widely used in every field of national economicconstruction, and the products have been achieved standardization, seriation,generalization. The main works of the traditional design is design of lectotypeand route arrangement of Belt Conveyer. With the developing ofdesign-production technology and the wide application of CAD/CAE technology,the3D graphics technology and the computer technology play important roles inthe design of belt conveyor, and Modular Design and Computer Aided Designhave become the main trend of modern design of belt conveyor.This paper designed a CAD system of3D for DT Ⅱ (A) Belt Conveyor,which is divided into design of lectotype, parameterized modeling and flexibleautomatic assembly of parts, and database of parts etc. Based on the DT Ⅱ(A)type Belt Conveyor Design Manual and Code for design of belt conveyorengineering GB50431-2008,in the design of lectotype, the system established astandard database for DTⅡ (A) type Belt Conveyor by Access2007databasemanagement system. Using Visual Basic6.0as development tools and adoptingthe design concept of loop iteration, and through ADO database accesstechnology, the system realized the automation of the whole design andcalculation of DTⅡ (A) Belt Conveyor lectotype.During the part thatparameterized modeling and flexible automatic assembly of parts, usingSolidWorks secondary development technology, and combined with standardparameter database, parameterized modeling by the methods of secondarydevelopment, such as dimension driving and program driving. Then the systemrealized automatic assembling of conveyor based on the design concept ofmodular design.The system consist of Selection Design Module, Parametric ModelingModule, Database Manager Module, Report generation Module and InstructionsModule. The system can complete3d design of belt conveyor, which not onlycan improve design efficiency and reduce the design cost but also improvedesign quality. So it has obvious practical value. What is said above adds appreciably to the usefulness of the system.
