An Interpreting Practice Report On The7^th Jiaozuo （China） International Taijiquan Exchange Competition

This paper is the author’s interpreting practice report on technical conference of the7th Jiaozuo China International Taijiquan Exchange Competition. This report selects two speeches, the vice mayor’s and the general chief referee’s, and analyzes interpreting strategies, summarizes the success and shortcomings of interpreting, and puts forward practical proposals for the future interpreters according to the typescripts.The interpreting task received, preparations begin from the existing materials, the theme of the conference and the competition rules. The author meets the speakers the night before the meeting, and communicates with them about the content of interpretation. The report also lists the source text and target text, and marks the on-site factors of the interpretation. In the chapter of Case Analysis, the report analyses difficulties and coping strategies of figure interpreting, Syntactic transformation strategies, compression and adaptation strategies, in order to help future volunteer interpreters grasp the essentials of conference interpreting.Through the description and case analysis on the interpretation task, the report draws the following conclusions.1. The interpreting task successes overall, but there is still room for improvement;2. Volunteer interpreters should promote psychological quality, preparations before interpreting and interpretation skills, to better serve the Taijiquan Exchange Competition.
