| The translation of Taijiquan is an important aspect of the translation of Wushu culture,which is conducive to the overseas spread of Taijiquan culture.The translation material selected for this translation practice comes from the book The Highest Excellence Like Water: Dialogues with Famous Chinese Taijiquan Masters.It is a part of the dialogue between Yu Gongbao and Zhao Youbin,a famous Yang-style Taijiquan master.Their dialogue mainly focuses on the basic definition,characteristics,simplification in the development of Taijiquan and the practice of Taijiquan frame,which is of significance for guiding Taijiquan practitioners.There are many Taijiquan terms,four-character phrases,non-subject sentences and classic Chinese sentences in their dialogue,which contains rich traditional Chinese culture and is difficult to translate.In the process of translation,in order to obtain the natural equivalent translation,the functional equivalence theory is selected as the theoretical basis of this translation practice.And translation methods such as transliteration,omission,adding subject and changing voice are adopted to make the target readers have similar reading respondence with the source-text readers.This report introduces the selection of the translation material,theoretical basis,translation process,case analysis and reflections.Especially,in case analysis,under the guidance of functional equivalence theory,the translation difficulties encountered and the translation methods adopted by the author are mainly analyzed and summarized from four levels: lexicon,syntax,discourse and style.In this translation practice,the author realizes that the translation of Taijiquan requires the translator not only has enough language skills but also deeply understand the cultural connotation of Taijiquan.This translation practice explores the guiding significance of functional equivalence theory in the translation of Taijiquan-related texts,and the author also hopes that it can provide some reference for the translation of similar texts in Taijiquan. |
