Text analysis is so crucial that a translator should keep in the text types ofmaterials from the beginning of translating. The famous British practiced-basedtranslator and translation theorist, Peter Newmark divides all the texts into three majorcategories according to his text typology theory, which are expressive text, informativetext, and vocative text, and he proposes two translation strategies: semantic translationand communicative translation to deal with different types of texts. Peter Newmarkbelieves that semantic translation strategy should be applied to the translation ofexpressive texts which focus on the characteristics of the original text and its author,and communicative translation strategy to the translation of informative and vocativetexts which stresses the readers’ acceptance of the translated text.In the translation practice of the article: How to Shop Safely Online, the authorapplies Peter Newmark’s text typology theory.
