The Researches Of C-E Translation Of The Report On The Coalbed Methane Industry In Jincheng,shanxi From The Perspective Of Reiss’s Text Typology Theory

Recent years have seen rapid development of coalbed methane industry in the city of Jincheng of Shanxi Province.However,Jincheng still has many problems that need to be solved,such as those in breaking through technological bottlenecks,attracting foreign investment,promoting industrial products and making publicity overseas.To enhance communications with countries and enterprises abroad,The Report on the Coalbed Methane Industry in Jincheng,Shanxi Province is selected as the translation material to conduct translation studies and make up the inadequacy in translation of CBM texts.In Reiss’ s text typology theory,text type can mainly be classified into informative,expressive and operative,each with corresponding translation principles.The Report on the Coalbed Methane Industry in Jincheng,Shanxi is a typical informative text with the informative function playing the dominating role.The author of the thesis applies Reiss’ s text typology theory to guide the translation practice of The Report as informative text,and tries to find out translation methods and techniques from the lexical,syntactic and textual levels.For example,the coalbed methane terms could be translated in a literal way to convey accurate information in the target language;the superfluous words in sentences should be abridged to make the expression more concise and readable to the readers;hidden logic needs to be found out to make the meaning and the intention more explicit,etc.Through these studies on the translation of coalbed methane texts,the author concluded some practical experiences,hoping that such experiences can enrich the application of Reiss’ s theory in the translation of coalbed methane industry and provide useful references to other translators.
