Objective: To evaluate the efficiency of longitudinal suture of mucous membraneof rectum and seton in puborectalis which performed in patients with internal rectalmucosa prolapse (IRMP) type constipation.Method: All the 21 selected cases, diagnosed IRMP type consipation throughsymptoms, signs and defecography, divided into 3groups. They were therapygroup(longitudinal suture of mucous membrane of rectum and seton in puborectalis), 8cases; control groupA(punctiform ligation of mucous membrane of rectum), 6 cases;and control groupB(simple longitudinal suture of mucous membrane of rectum) 7 cases. All cases were treated with the above therapy. The symptoms, signs and auxiliaryexamination before and after the treatment were observed and analyzed respectively.Result: The therapeutic effect of therapy group is 100%, The symptoms, signsand auxiliary examination has significant difference vs control groupA and vs controlgroupB after treatment (P<0.05). 3 months later, There is significant differencebetween therapy group and control groupA, therapy group and control groupB(P<0.05), no significant difference between control groupA and control groupB(P>0.05). There is a ineffective case in control groupA and one case recurs in controlgroupB.Conclusion: The surgical operation eliminated obstruction factors, the viciouscirculation caused by the prolapsed mucosa stopped. Meanwhile, the method of setonstimilated autonomic nerve and conduce to recovery of plevic floor’s function, thepatient’s defecation no longer obstructed. The curative effect is good, better than othertraditional method. This treatment can be chosen after strict indication, which canprevent recurrence effectively matched by a long-term synthetical therapeutic scheme. This is according to the concept of wholism and the theory of treating both theprincipal and subordinate aspects in TCM.
