Beiji zong xiaofang (Total effective formulary for emergency)——The editionin existence is named Bei quart zong xiao fang (Total effective formulary forcompleteness). The author of it, Li Chaozheng who born in 1096 and died in 1155 inthe South Song Dynasty, was from an officials family of Liyang, Jiangsu. He wasimpressed by the effect of simple recipe, then he selected the effective prescriptions ofZheng lei ben cao (Classified material medica), and other books like Ji feng bei ji fang(Ji feng formulary for emergency), Qi yu (Jivaka), Hai shang ji yan fang (TheEffective formulary on the sea), etc., so lastly he compiled this book. The book waspublished in the 24th years of Shaoxing in the South Song Dynasty(1154). It contains40 volumes, around 300 thousand words, and can be used for internal medicine,surgery, department of gynecology, and pediatrics.This book had ever been recorded in book memories in ancient times, and oncebeen kept by Ji Zhenyi and Xu Qianxue in the first years in Qing dynasty. It was dealtand changed in near times. 14 pages in volume 1 are added. And it was refitted from20 volumes to 36 volumes. The name of this book then was replaced by Bei quanzong xiao fang (Total effective formulary for completeness). It was purchased by abookseller in the coloured glaze factory in Peking at the beginning ofZhonghuaminguo. Fu Zengxiang had ever seen this book, and wrote out the bookappearance condition. In the 20th in last century the book was sent to Japan and keptin Xingyu study until now. It is the only existing copy in the word presently.The firstreprint of this book was conducted by a consortium called Wutian scientificdevelopment vigorously in mar,2005 in Japan. My tutor, Professor Shen Shunong hasbeen traveled to Japan and observed it being invited by Professor MAYANAGIMakoto in July,2005. The main object of this paper is the photocopy of this book.Hiroshi Kosoto and MAYANAGI Makoto has made some literature research on thisbook and published the results in 2005. There are little research fruit on this subject tothe date.This study aims to the Shaoxing publication of Bei ji zong xiao fang (totaleffective formulary for emergency) in the South Song dynasty. In the study, I proofread the words and sentences, and tidied up the medical materials that were citedin this book, like Qi yu (Jivaka), Hai shang ji yan fang (The effective formulary onthe sea), Jiu yue wei sheng fang (Formulary for health like ninefold keys), Zhong xingbei ji fang (Resurgence formulary for emergency), Da zhi chan shi bi xiao fang(Theeffective formulary without fail by the intelligent Buddha), Jing xiao ming fang(Famous effective formulary), etc., and then verified the origin and development ofthe literature. In addition, The variation of characters in the book are classified andtidied up.The study is meaningful for the research on medical books of the Song dynastyand tiding up some medical data that had been dropped. And the book is ofpracticality walue in clinic.
